Definition
A content gap is a question customers ask that your website does not answer, or answers too thinly for an engine to use. The clearest sign is a question where competitors are recommended and your brand is not.
Gaps come in kinds: no page at all, a page that exists but lacks the evidence to be cited, or a page that answers a neighbouring question but not this one. Each kind calls for a different fix.
Why it matters
Gaps are where visibility is won fastest. Creating one precise page for an unanswered high-intent question changes more than polishing ten pages that already rank.
How it is measured
Tracked questions are matched against your pages and against AI answers. The report lists questions with no matching page, questions where the page is not cited, and the competitors named instead, ranked by opportunity score.
