Definition
An entity is anything a search or AI system can identify as one distinct thing: a company, a brand, a product, a person, a place. Systems connect facts to entities, so the clearer an entity is, the more reliably its facts are attached to it.
Ambiguity hurts. A brand name shared with a common word, a product sold under two names, or a company described three different ways across the web can be split into several weak entities instead of one strong one.
Why it matters
AI can only recommend a brand it can identify. A clear entity is what lets an engine connect your products, prices and strengths to your name.
How it is applied
Use one brand and product name everywhere, state what the company is in one consistent sentence, and add Organization and Product structured data so systems can match the page to the entity.
