Definition
Prompt Volume is the number of times a particular question, or a cluster of similar questions, is asked on AI platforms over a period. Unlike search volume, which search engines publish, prompt volume is not observable from outside an AI platform. Any figure presented as an exact prompt volume is an estimate, whatever it is called.
flowgen therefore does not report prompt volume as a count. It reports estimated demand as a relative index built from observable signals, and labels it as such. The useful question is rarely “how many people asked this” but “which of these questions matter more, and where are we missing”.
Why it matters
Teams that treat an estimate as a count prioritise the wrong questions. Treating demand as a relative index keeps the ranking honest.
How it is measured
From observable signals: related search demand, the questions that appear in support and sales data, and how often a topic surfaces in sampled answers. flowgen AI Demand shows demand as an index next to intent, competitor exposure and content coverage.
