Questions and demand

What is Prompt?

The question or request a user types into generative AI. Often longer and more specific than a search keyword, it can include the user’s situation, conditions and purpose.

Definition

A prompt is the question or request a person types into a generative AI service. In GEO it plays the role a keyword played in SEO, but it behaves differently: it is longer, conversational, and carries the person’s situation, constraints and intent.

“Cordless vacuum” was a keyword. “A quiet cordless vacuum for a studio with a cat, under 300,000 won” is a prompt. The second contains four conditions, and the page that addresses all four is the one an engine can use.

Why it matters

Prompts are what you track, what you compete on and what you write content for. Choosing the right set is the first decision in a GEO program.

How it is applied

Build a prompt set from real demand: search reports, support tickets, sales calls and the questions Prompt Demand finds in your category. Cover every buying stage, include prompts that do not name a brand, and keep the set stable for a quarter so before-and-after comparisons hold.
