Definition
A question cluster is a group of AI search questions that mean roughly the same thing or sit on the same topic. “Vacuum for a small apartment”, “cordless vacuum for a studio” and “compact vacuum that is easy to store” belong together.
Clustering turns hundreds of phrasings into a manageable set of topics. One page can answer a whole cluster, and visibility measured per cluster is steadier than visibility measured per phrasing.
Why it matters
Content is planned per cluster, not per phrasing. Without clusters a team writes ten near-duplicate pages or misses the topic entirely.
How it is applied
Questions are grouped by meaning and topic, then tagged with persona, intent and buying stage. Demand, visibility and competitor presence are reported per cluster so the gaps are visible at the topic level.
